Light rain moved into the area Friday about 5 p.m. and wiped out the evening's planned “Stock Car Shootout” $1,000-to-win special which was also going to feature Hobby Stocks, Midwest Mods and Hornets at the Chateau Speedway in Lansing, Minn.

However, officials decided to not just take the season finale off the schedule. Instead, they rescheduled it for this Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.

The rescheduled time will create the first afternoon show at The Track in many years. Chateau Speedway first opened in 1956 and there were several seasons through the ’60s when fall racing was run on Sunday afternoons.

It should make for an interesting afternoon of action. With many tracks in the region running evening specials this weekend it just may add another show that more drivers may try to take advantage of.
