Chateau Speedway Banquet 2024 at Lansing Corners!*

Chateau Raceway 6/9/17

June 9, 2017  |  by Matthew Grage

The warmest temperatures of the year greeted drivers and fans Friday Night at Chateau Raceway in Lansing for the fifth night of racing action during the 2017 season. Along with the regular six classes of cars the Outlaw Mini Mods were on hand for there third of ten scheduled visits to the track this season. At the end of the night Adam Ackerman of Mason City Iowa picked up his first feature win of the season at the track and his second in the series. Ackerman started outside row three and after running fifth after lap one jumped to third a lap later and up to second on lap three. From there he chased Matt Narveson of Hayfield up until the white flag when he moved to the lead. The win capped off a perfect night for him as he also took one of the heat wins along with Narveson.

In the USRA A Modified class Jason Cummins of New Richland captured his third feature win of the season at the track. Greg Pfeifer Junior of Austin lead much of the first half of the caution free feature until he caught the tail end of the field. Pfeifer had committed to the top of the track right off the drop of the green while Cummins alternated between the top line at one end of the track and the bottom line at the other. With the move over flag flying Greg was unable to clear the car which was also driving the high line and that allowed Cummins to reel him in and eventually move around both him and the slower car to take the win away. Pfeifer held on for second over Brandon Aggen of Miltona. Cummins along with Jacob Dahle of Morristown captured the classes heat wins.

Derek Clement won a very wild USRA B Mod Feature. Derek Lead the first lap of the race off the pole but Jayden Larson of Mankato shot wide off the outside of the second row and made the line stick as he took over the top spot on lap two with Nate Chodur of Lake Mills Iowa moving up to second a few laps later shuffling Derek back to third. A caution just over halfway thru the event kept the leaders bunched and Chodur used the restart to his advantage as he took over the lead. A couple laps later Clement found the high line to his liking and went back to the front. Then a lap later Chodur had mechanical problems and stalled on the track bringing out another caution and his chances at the win. Larson inherited the lead back for the restart with Clement on his back bumper. With three laps to go coming out of turn two Derek made his move to the bottom and put his machine back on point where he ran the rest of the way to the checkers. Kadden Kath of Owatonna made a later pass on Larson for second. The classes lone heat win went to Chodur.

Chris Hotovec of Dodge Center captured the feature win in the short field of Chateau Pure Stocks taking the win over and Jesse Stahl of Austin who had taken the heat win. Stahl had won three of the first four features at the track this year.

Ryan Goergen of Stacyville Iowa turned in a pair of wins in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified Division with late race passes in both his events. He backed up his white flag lap pass for the win in his heat with a pass in the final five laps of the feature to capture his second sweep and feature win of the season. Jeremy Misgen of New Richland lead the early laps of the feature before he got into a three wide battle for the lead with Goergen and Garitt Wytaske of Austin. Wytaske took the lead on lap twelve before Goergen got the advantage a lap later and drove off to the win. Michael Wytaske of Lansing, who took the classes other heat win came home in third.

The WISSOTA Street Stock class also had a driver bring his broom along Friday night as Zach Elward of Hayfield cleaned up in that class. After he and Kory Adams of Stacyville Iowa took heat wins it was Zach who worked his way to the front for the win in the feature event. Fred Prudoehl of Winona lead the early laps of the race before Elward worked from row three to the front on lap seven. Fred held off Jason Newkirk of Austin for second.

The Hornets did not have an opportunity for driver to get a sweep as with a car count of under ten they were held to just one feature event for the evening. Brian Adams of Shakopee who had won three of the first four features in the class sat on the outside of the front row and looked in good shape to make it four for five. However after leading the first two laps mechanical problems put him in the infield and he turned the lead over to Caylie Blowers of Waseca. Caylie paced the field to the checkers for her first win of the season.

Racing action continues next Friday Night at 7:30
