Chateau Speedway opener delayed one week

July 13, 2018  |  by Matthew Grage

Mother Nature decided Chateau Speedway in Lansing should wait one more week before its grand re-opening as it dumped a heavy dose of rain on the facility from Thursday Night thru Friday Afternoon.

Track officials wrestled with the decision on whether or not to try and race until mid afternoon before deciding they had to pull the plug.

The Officials have done a massive amount of work over the last 6 weeks preparing to reopen the facility that has sat idle since last falls season finale.

Mark and Annette Wytaske and there crew have put in over 2000 hours of time, and thousands of dollars in improvements and equipment, into reworking the grounds and buildings to get ready to open back up for racing. But the track which opened in 1956 will sit idle for one more week as more work is put into preparing for next weeks planned Season Opener.

Seven classes of cars will bring the track back to life next Friday Night at 7:15 with Chateau Pure Stocks, Chateau Hornets, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Mods, as well as USRA A and B Mods. Also on the schedule will be the Mini Mods which were part of the original show last week.  They were not going to be on schedule for this weeks replanned opener but called Saturday Morning and asked to get back on for next week.   In fact the list of changes and improvements planned for the track will continue on into the fall after this years races are run and into next spring before next season rolls around.
