First Annual Chateau Speedway Autumn Extravaganza concludes with more great racing action.

The First Annual Chateau Speedway Autumn Extravaganza concluded on Saturday Nigh with Track officials calling it a big success. After 130 cars filled the pits on Friday night 112 cars filed in for the second night of action. Along with the exciting two and three wide racing action the Corn Hole Bean Bag Tournament kept people entertained on Saturday Afternoon as well as the Kids Bouncy Houses. Than Saturday Night there were a pair of Bicycle giveaways for the kids provided by the nights sponsor French’s Repair and Fabrication, along with several free passes for the entertainment at the Mall of America, plus a Candy Drop. While it is was sad to see the 2018 Season come to an end the new owners saw all there hard work pay off after taking over the track in June and Reopening it in July. Several ideas and plans are in the works for next year which should be another exciting season of action in Lansing.

The first class to see there season come to an end as the features rolled out for the night were the Power 96 Pure Stocks. Brady Krohnberg of Walters wrapped up his season with a big weekend taking home feature wins both nights. In doing so he also took home the first place bonus money for the two night point fund. Krohnberg started front row and lead flag to flag to score the win. 2018 regular season Track Champion Jesse Stahl worked his way up from a row three starting spot to come home in second ahead of Tony Shaner of Owatonna.. Jack Maas of Faribault and Beau Stevens of Albert Lea completed the top five. Krohnberg also scored a heat win on the night along with Maas. Stahl took second in the Extravaganza points race ahead of Troy Maas of Faribault, Mike Wick of Faribault and Stevens.

USRA B Modifieds ran second in the Feature Half of the show and it was regular season Track Champion Kadden Kath of Owatonna concluding his season with his fourth feature win of the season at Chateau. Matt Brooks of Austin chased Kath for all twenty laps while battling Cole Suckow of Cresco Iowa to come home in second. Jim Chisholm of Osage Iowa made a nice run from a row five starting spot to finish in fourth ahead of Dustin Kruse of Brandon South Dakota. Zach Elward of Hayfield, Nate Whitehurst of Mason City Iowa and Kruse took home the classes final heat wins of the year. Kath also claimed top pay in the Extravaganza two night point fund. Brooks, Noah Grinstead of Austin, Tyler Tesch of Lennox South Dakota and Dustin Steinbrink of Austin were the rest of the top five in the chase for the points fund money.

Danny Richards of Mondovi Wisconsin lead flag to flag for his third feature win of the season at Lansing. Braden Brauer of Rochester made a quick jump from row two to second on the first lap but Richards was just to strong on the night. Things got a little wild on lap two when Zach Elward of Hayfield got sideways in turn one and rolled his car. It was the second time this year Zach has had that car upside down at Chateau. Opening Night Feature winner Jason Newkirk of Austin finished third ahead of Travis Loew of Barron Wisconsin and Stacy Krohnberg of Walters. Newkirk and Richards took the heat wins and also finished one-two in the Extravaganza Points Fund Chase with Newkirk coming out on top in that. Krohnberg, Loew and Cody Hyatt of Waseca made up the top five in that money chase.

In WISSOTA Midwest Modified action Eric Lamm of Zimmerman made the trip down for night two of the weekend shows and made the trip worth while as he scored the feature win in his first trip to the track. Shane Howell who also put on some miles rolling in from Buffalo for the two shows came home in second followed by Don Schaefer of Eyota, Friday Nights feature winner Dan Wheeler of Savage and Cory Asmussen of Waseca. Schaefer, Howell and Drew Williams of Rochester captured heat wins on the night. Wheeler’s two top five finishes paid off as he was top man in the Extravaganza points chase. Schaefer ended up second ahead of Howell, Michael Wytaske of Hartland and Ryan Wetzstein of West Conocrd.

Josh Angst of Winona capped off a good couple nights of racing in the French’s Repair USRA A Mod Division as he took home the feature win and the top Prize Money in the Extravaganza fund for the class. Angst, who finished third on Friday Night came out of row three getting to the front on lap eight slipping by early leader Joe Horgdahl of Kasson on his way to Victory Lane. Jason Cummins, who struggled to a 17th place finish on Friday Night came from row five to finish second on Saturday Night. Jason moved into the top five in just four laps and was up to second on lap ten but that’s as close as he got. Adam Hensel, also starting in row five followed Jason through the field to come home in third ahead of Dustin Brown of Thornton Iowa and Darwyn Karau of Kasson. Hensel ended up finish second in the Extravaganza Points race followed by Brown, opening night feature winner Ryan Wetzstein of West Conocrd and Karau. Cummins along with Mark Motl of Owatonna were the nights heat winners.

In KEVKO Outlaw Mini Mod action 2018 Track Champion Nathan Kilwine of Glenville waited until the final night of the season to find his way to victory lane as he claimed the classes last feature of the season. Kelly Steele of International Falls chased Kilwine to the checkers ahead of Taton Hansen of Spicer, Blake Ferris of Emo Canada, and Justin Cutrer of International Falls. Bobby Ruhloe of Clear Lake Iowa, Steele, and Ferris took the heat wins for the night. Final Extravaganza Point standings for the group had Hansen on top ahead of Michael Bryant of Mason City Iowa, Cutrer, Jerry Larson of Bemidji, and Kilwine.

The 2018 season came to a close with the Y Waste Hornet’s hitting the track for the final race of the season. A wild finish capped off an exciting season of action at the track. Track Champion Brian Adams of Shakopee lead much of the race with Andy Knutson of Rochester, Aaron Reimers of Prior Lake and Jeremiah Anderson of Lacrosse Wisconsin dicing back and fourth right behind him. As the final laps wound down drivers were going three wide for the lead with Reimers coming up with the pass for the lead with two laps remaining. Knutson moved to second for a lap but Adams came back for that spot as Reimers scored the win. Knutson slide back to fourth as Anderson snuck in for third. TJ Pearson came home in fifth. Anderson and Seth Scholl of Holmen took the classes heat wins. Reimers also won the Extravaganza Bonus Money ahead of Pearson, Chad Nagel of Spring Valley, Scholl and Adams.

Track Officials are in the planning stages for a Season Ending Banquet but have not nailed down any details on it yet. Fans and Drivers will have to stay tuned for details on the Tracks Webpage or Facebook Pages. Settling on an Opening Day for 2019 is also on the to do list as new owners Mark and Annette Wytaske look back on there 9 show season and make there plans for a full season.
