Chateau Speedway Announces Schedule for 63rd Anniversary Season

The Winter landscape of Snow and Ice may dominate the scene at the Chateau Speedway in Lansing these days but plans are underway for a summer of excitement. With that thought in mind the Track has announced the release of the much anticipated 2019 schedule. The race season will run from May into September with 22 race dates on the schedule at this time. The possibility of adding other dates is still open. Admission prices will remain the same as last year with Adults $10, Juniors (pre-teens) $5 and under 5 Free. First Green Flag each week will be 7:15. The Speedway will be returning the same 6 main classes. The French’s Repair USRA A Mods, the USRA B Mods, WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modified, Power 96 Pure Stocks, and Y Waste Hornets. KEVKO Outlaw Mini Mods will run every other week starting on week 2.  They will also be part of 2 of the specials including the two day extravaganza at the end of the season.. Two exceptions to the every other night show for the Mini Mods, To better fit there schedule they will not race on the June 21nd of July 5th nights which would fit the every other week schedule. Instead they will run on June 28th and July 12th The first action of the season will be a test and tune, depending on weather will be either Tuesday April 30th or Wednesday May 1st from 6 pm to 9 pm, with Opening Night Friday Night May 3rd. The 2019 Track Champions will be decided over the next 18 Friday Nights.

Several Friday Night Promotions will be run over the course of the season. Among them will be the popular Kids Night Bicycle Giveaway and Kids Car Rides on May 31st. June 28th will be sponsored by the popular radio program “The Dirt Show” who will be hand. The program which highlights dirt track racing news and results will bring some excitement to the night. The Exciting Fireworks Display will again be a part of the Fourth of July Weekend on Friday Night July 5th. Admission Price for the Fourth of July night will be $12, however fans will still be able to get in for the regular $10 fee by bringing 2 non perishable food items as the track sponsors a Food Drive for the night. August 9th will be “Pack The Stands Night” with special pricing of $5 per person. August 23rd will be Backpack Night. A Back to School Night with a number of Backpack giveaways for some school age youngsters. Season Championship Night will be Friday Night August 30th, the final night for Track Points when the Champions for the year will be decided.

Two Holiday Weekend Sunday Night Specials highlight the schedule as well on Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends. The first of those Sunday Nights, May 26th, will be the return and rebranding of the Mike Guttormson Memorial. The Memorial was not run last year after 20 straight seasons since Mikes passing in 1997 as the track did not get reopened until July. The Memorial Race will be expanded to more of a celebration of the Tracks History and Drivers who have been lost over the 62 years of racing at Lansing. The Memorial race will still pay tribute to Mike as it will be called the “Team 83 Memorial”. The race will carry an increased purse for all classes highlighted by a $1600 to win payday for one of the USRA A Mods. The USRA A Mod payout will also feature a $1400 check for 2nd, $1200 for 3rd and $1000 for 4th. The Labor Day weekend special event will run on Sunday Night September 1st . Increased purses will also be on the line for all classes for this show as well lead by a $1000 to win payday for the A Mods. Each of these Sunday Night shows will have a 6:00 starting time and feature the 4 sanctioned classes. The addition of any support classes will be decided later. These 2 nights will be for National Points only.

Rounding out the schedule will be the 2nd Annual Autumn Extravaganza 2 night special on Friday Night September 27th and Saturday Night September 28th. Like last year along with running for the regular payouts each night the drivers will be awarded points for each night with the top 10 in each class receiving a third payout.

All 22 nights will be National Points nights for the sanctioned drivers in there respective classes. Saturday Night December 7th has been reserved for the Annual Awards Banquet. As part of the Night the Track will have a collection night for “Toys for Tots’. All attendees to the banquet will be encourage to bring an item for this effort.
