They're Coming Back in 2020

When the 2020 Racing Season Kicks off On May 1st Fans will see an old familiar Class return to The Track. WISSOTA Super Stocks will return full time to Chateau Speedway for the first time since 2009 next season. The Class ran at the Track under various names, Super Stock, Limited Late Model, and Hobby Stock from 1972 thru 2001. It fell off the schedule in 2002 until returning for a brief two year stint in 2008 and 2009. The Class ran one special at the end of the 2018 Season and has been a point of discussion over the last year with people asking to see it return, fans and drivers alike.

According to Track Owner Mark Wytaske some of the discussion surrounded the desire for another Full Body Car. Open Wheel Cars have pretty much dominated the racing action the last several years. In fact Chateau Speedway ran 4 open wheel classes the last two seasons with the USRA A Mods, the USRA B Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and Outlaw Mini Mods. Three classes feature Full Fender Cars, WISSOTA Street Stock, WISSOTA Pure Stock, and WISSOTA Hornets at the Facility.

There was one other issue Wytaske had to take into consideration. How do you add another class and run potentially eight classes of cars a night. That issue would make the night to long for fans and drivers alike so that forced another issue, who do you cut loose.

Several factors went into making that decision starting with the fact that one of the reason for adding the Super Stocks would be to bring in another Full Body Car. Thus cutting one of the current Full Body classes would not change anything. That left the 4 open wheel classes to look at. It eventually came down to the fact that the majority of the cars in the Outlaw Mini Mod Class were North Iowa Cars and one of the Tracks in North Iowa (Mason City Iowa) was going to reopen next season and run the Mini Mods. Beings that they are not a high dollar class there is a good possibility their car count could go down considerably and that became the deciding factor is cutting them from the program. Mark was glad to know that even though they were losing the night here, another track was picking them up in the area giving them a track nearby to run at.

Wytaske has also had thoughts about trying to get the two so called “B” Mod Classes, The USRA B Mods, and the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, who have similar rules to run together, forming one class. The combination would form a much larger field each week and potentially a bigger payout for the drivers if it was to work. So far drivers have not seemed to warm to the idea so they will continue to run their separate sanctioning bodies and rules packages.

The Track also has announced they would like to welcome Brauer Roofing on as a Sponsor. The Super Stock Class will be known as the “Brauer Roofing WISSOTA Super Stocks”. Chateau Speedway also would like to thank KEVKO for there sponsorship of the Outlaw Mini Mods the last two season, as well as the drivers.

So the 2020 Lineup is set for Chateau Speedway. When Racing Action gets underway every Friday Night, starting on May 1st, with the first Green Flag at 7:15 fans will be settling in to watch the Y Waste WISSOTA Hornets, Power 96 WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Action Builders WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stocks, Braauer Roofing WISSOTA Super Stocks, USRA B Mods, and French’s Repair USRA A Mods. There will be a Test and Tune on the Schedule for the Wednesday before the Season Opener which would be April 29th.
