Temperatures are warming up, Spring has officially arrived and the 2022 Racing Season is just around the corner at Chateau Speedway. Track officials have been busy during the offseason working on the schedule for the new season and several Specials will highlight the new schedule.
Along with the new schedule The Track also announced a change in the Class Line Up during the off season. Joining the weekly line up will be the USRA Stock Cars, gone will be the WISSOTA Street Stocks. Along with the USRA Stock Cars The Track will be Featuring the USRA A and B Mods again this year along with WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and the track sponsored Chateau Pure Stocks, and Chateau Hornets. Drivers will get a Test and Tune Session on Tuesday Night May 3rd before the real Racing gets started.
The Season will start off with one of the biggest Openers in Track History with a 2 night weekend. On Friday Night May 6th the Season will open with the “James Krejci Memorial”. James, a former Track Champion who won the Hobby Stock Championship in 1987, passed away last year and will be remembered on the Season Opener. That will be followed up on Saturday Night May 7th with the USRA B Mod Summit Shoot Out. The two nights will feature the new USRA Stock Car Class along with the USRA B Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Chateau Pure Stocks and Chateau Hornets. The USRA A Mods have some big specials on the weekend so The Track took them off the schedule for the first weekend to give them the opportunity to chase the bigger purses. They will return the following week and for the rest of the season with their high flying speeds. The “Micro Sprint Cars” will be a part of the opening weekend as they will run on the Friday Night Show.
The Month of May will also mark the return of the USMTS Touring Series on May 27th. The High Powered Modifieds will visit The Track on the 2nd night of their 4 day swing through the region on Memorial Day weekend. The Night will also be used for the announcement of the six members who will make up the 3rd Class of the “Chateau Speedway Hall of Fame. The Induction Night for the new Hall of Fame members will be June 24th.
The Mid-American Renegade Sprint Cars (MARS), the Traditional Non-Wing Sprints are on the schedule for 3 nights at Lansing. The first night will be June 17th, than they roll again on July 15th, and their final appearance will be on August 19th. The August 19th night will also feature the yearly Spectacular Fireworks Show.
Drivers will wrap up their quest for their Season Championships on Friday September 2nd. Season Championship Night will feature the Crowning of the Champions in all 6 classes.
Two Big Specials will bring the Season to an end on September 9th and September 16th. On September 9th it will be the 25th Anniversary running of the “Spirit of 83” Memorial with what will be the 24th running of the Mike Guttormson Memorial Modified Feature event. (The race was not run in 2018). Big Money will be on the line again this year for the prestigious event. Friday Night September 16th the Season wraps up with the USRA Stock Car Summit Shoot Out. Support Classes for all Specials will be announced as the season progresses.
The Track will also be a host site for 4 of the 8 Southern Minnesota Promotions Enduro Events scheduled so far. The Track is tentatively scheduled to host a Frost Buster Event on April 23rd, a Mid-Season event on July 9th, and the last two events of the year on September 24th and October 18th. The Series also has events scheduled for Kasson, Waseca, Faribault and the Austin Fairgrounds during the year.
