Temperatures were a bit cool for racing action Friday Night at Chateau Speedway Powered by Garlick’s Water but some fast action warmed everybody up. One of the biggest highlights of week two of the 2022 season was the return of an old friend to Victory Lane. French’s Repair USRA A Mod Driver Steve Wetzstein of West Concord who has been in and out of car the last few years found his way back to Chateau Speedway Victory Lane for the first in almost three years. Last time Steve brought him a Feature win at The Track was June 14 2019 and he did it with a thrilling 3 wide pass for the lead. Steve’s son, Ryan lead the first eighteen laps but a three wide scramble off a restart with the two of them and Dustin Sorensen of Rochester saw Steve take over the top spot and power away for the win. Dustin took second ahead of Ryan Sanders of Happy Texas, Jason Cummins of New Richland and Jacob Bleess of Chatfield. Ryan faded to sixth. Bleess and Sorensen took the classes heat wins.

Twenty-Five Double M Transport USRA B Mods were scheduled for their Main Event but three drivers failed to make the grid. In the end it was Hunter Kennedy of St Ansgar Iowa who lead flag to flag for his first feature win of the year. Noah Grinstead of Austin pushed him to the checkers challenging him. Third went to Michael Johnson of Austin ahead of Jett Sorensen of Rochester who came from back in row nine for a solid top five finish ahead of Brandon Hare of Elma Iowa. Grinstead, Hare and Trevor Fecht of Ankeny Iowa scored heat wins in the class.

Jack Paulson of Faribault swept his way to a pair of wins in the Power 96 Pure Stocks leading every lap of both races. Andrew Eischens of Taopi came home second in the caution free main event. The classes other heat win went to PJ Duchene of Faribault.

Skjeveland Sanitation USRA Stock Cars were lead for the second week in a row by Travis Shipman of Mason City Iowa. Shipman scored the classes heat win as well. Chance Larson of Dunnel chased him home in both events.

Shawn Poston of Red Wing became the third driver on the night to score a sweep as he scored a pair of wins in the Manke’s Outdoor Equipment Hornets. He did it by leading every lap of his heat and feature as well. Bailey Wolf of Janesville gave Shawn a good run in the feature and was on her way to the lead as the pair worked traffic but a caution scrapped that and Shawn took control off the restart and never looked back. Colin Wittenberg of Hastings had the classes other heat win.

In Hansen Tire WISSOTA Midwest Modified action Trevis Underdahl of Northfield grabbed the early lead in the Feature before Kadden Kath of Ellendale worked under him on lap three. Underdahl stayed in the hunt until his car caught the wall in turn 4 coming to the white flag. Kath got the win with last weeks feature winner Jake Smith of St Joseph taking second ahead of Greg Pfeifer Junior of Austin, Ryan Goergen of Stacyville Iowa and Tony Bloom of Rochester. Matt Heinzerling of Spearfish South Dakota made the long haul and came away with a heat win in the class while Kobie Kath of Owatonna scored the classes other heat win.

Chateau Speedway now turns its attention to the big $10,000 to win USMTS Special next Friday Night. The USMTS A Mods will be running in the area for much of the Labor Day weekend and will make there Friday Night stop in Lansing. Running along with the big A Mods will be the USRA B Mods, USRA Stock Cars, and WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. First Green Flag Friday Night is scheduled for 7:15.
